Associate Food Scientist
I had 2 interviews with this company where I spoke with both HR and the VP of the department. I was told I would hear back from them 2-3 weeks later on the next steps. A week after the second interview, I sent a thank note. Once it had been 2-3 weeks, I contacted both the HR representative and VP over my application and never heard back. 4 weeks had passed, I still hadn't heard back from them at that point, so I decided to look on LinkedIn where I applied to see if the job application was still up. It wasn't. I was absolutely devastated as I was excited to be apart of the company and felt like I was a good fit for the role. I had previously gone through several rounds of interviews with another company and wasn't picked due to high competition, so given this role seemed more aligned with my career goals and supposedly was growing. I was eager to join the team. Being ghosted sent me into a spiral. I was running out of savings, it had been a few months since I had graduated, and bills were still coming in. I was not given a rejection letter, an update, nor any communications as to what happened. Today, it has been 3 months since my last interview with that company. With how they handled my interview and communication, I found it extremely unprofessional and honestly lost respect for the company after how they handled the process. I value integrity and honesty. I worked extremely hard to get my degree and I took that company and the interviewing process seriously. But now, I believe that company does not value honesty, integrity, nor their future talent, which has left a bad taste in my mouth. And quite frankly would not be a company I'd like to work with in the future due to this unprofessionalism. Their actions affected me mentally by wasting my time, energy, and preparation that could've been directed towards a company that took their hiring process more seriously.
